Ten interviews with industry participants

A slight change in scope

Originally scoped to learn from developers about hypothesized obstacles they faced when building commerce capabilities for agents, this study also included a broader review of the latest protocols (i.e., ACP, x402, AP2), a discussion of where experts thought the space was headed, and a light round of concept testing for an early stage product. Participants came from organizations across the agentic ecosystem — agent providers, retailers, PSPs, manufacturers, marketplaces, and big tech firms.

The full case study covers:

  • Our original research objectives, and our change in scope
  • The kinds of learnings we gathered around ACP, x402 and AP2
  • Strategic framings that helped connect the dots across all ten interviews
